About ...

This thesis analyses the use of adaptive inter-channel prediction (AICP) for coding of 2-channel audio signals. An MPEG-1 Audio Layer II codec was extended by AICP and prediction gain corresponding to 40 kbit/s and more was observed.

The thesis is written in German and now available as scanned PDF file.

Furthermore, the major results and further analyses were published by my supervisor Hendrik Fuchs in a WASPAA´93 paper:

H. Fuchs,
“Improving Joint Stereo Audio Coding by Adaptive Inter-Channel Prediction”,
in Proc. IEEE Workshop on Applications of Signal Processing to Audio and Acoustics, New Paltz, New York, October 1993.  Abstract
